Video Shows Exact Moment Angel Reese Suffered Wrist Injury
Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese has confirmed the specific play when she sustained her wrist injury. Now, a video of that exact moment has surfaced.
On Sunday, September 8, Reese took to Instagram Live to set the record straight about her season-ending injury and address the other issues that have started because of it. The Sky forward revealed that she hurt her right hand on Friday against the Los Angeles Sparks when she fell backward following an and-one play.
While Reese was not sure in which quarter it occurred, a closer inspection of the play-by-play notes of the game revealed that there was only one instance when she had a basket plus foul: during the third quarter with three minutes remaining on the clock.
Reese drew a foul from Sparks center Li Yueru. She was actually pretty hyped after making the basket and even slapped the floor with her right hand in excitement.
Here’s a video of the play:
According to Angel Reese, the play caused a “small crack” in her bone. She had the option of not getting surgery, but her doctors told her she could “literally have arthritis at 22 years old.”
“The bone could literally crack and literally completely shatter. Right now it’s like a hairline. Literally a hairline like shatter,” Reese further said on the risks of not getting surgery.
As a result, Reese opted to undergo surgery, which is scheduled for Tuesday. She will be wearing a cast for six weeks following the operation, although she will be able to return to her normal routine after that.
