Taylor Swift’s Lover has enjoyed quite the wild ride when it comes to its performance on charts everywhere. The poppy collection was a huge win when the singer released it in 2019, and the project spun off a number of very successful singles. In the years since then, fans have continued to support the title, and it even experienced an unexpected surge in popularity following the release of “Cruel Summer” as a very late, but very successful, smash.
Lover has remained one of Swift’s most popular releases, even after she gave fans more to listen to and buy. The masses are still pressing play on the lighthearted full-length to this day, and they’ve helped the set reach a notable milestone in the U.K.
This time around, Lover reaches 250 weeks on the U.K.’s main albums ranking. As it hits that momentous number, the pop full-length steps down one rung, though it’s still living inside the top 40, as it lands at No. 35 this period.
Lover is just the second of Swift’s releases to make it to 250 weeks on the list of the most-consumed albums in the U.K. It follows behind 1989, which racked up 373 frames on the ranking—though that number won’t expand much more. Die-hard followers of the singer have switched their allegiance to 1989 (Taylor’s Version), her re-recording of the blockbuster.
At present, Lover ranks as Swift’s third-highest-ranking title on the albums chart in the United Kingdom. It comes in behind only The Tortured Poets Department (No. 11) and Folklore (No. 27). The title does manage to beat several other, much newer releases from the global superstar.
Swift fills eight spaces on the 100-slot, closely-watched albums chart this week. In addition to The Tortured Poets Department, Folklore, and Lover, the musician also appears in all of the following spaces with her fan favorites: 1989 (Taylor’s Version) (No. 38), Midnights (No. 39), Reputation (No. 44), Evermore (No. 80), and Red (Taylor’s Version) (No. 93).
Lover has stood out from Swift’s impressive discography from the moment it arrived in the summer of 2019. The set enjoyed a second wind—one which it’s still benefiting from to this day—when the song “Cruel Summer” was released as a single last summer. After she included the tune on her The Eras Tour setlist, the songwriter’s cut began to rise on sales and streaming platforms, and once it was promoted properly, it became one of the biggest hits of the year, which renewed interest in Lover.
