On Sunday, October 13, masked burglars broke through a security gate and raided Windsor Castle while the Prince and Princess of Wales, along with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, slept.

They were in Adelaide Cottage, their home, just a short distance from the Shaw Farm crime scene, which has sparked new security worries.

After discussing the incident with HELLO!, Terry Fisher, a property expert at We Buy Any Home, suggests that it is “vital for security to be reviewed regularly and adapted to changing circumstances” and advocates for “constant vigilance” in terms of safety.

“The recent Windsor Castle break-in serves as a reminder of the importance of robust security measures. Maintaining property security requires constant attention, particularly when prominent family members are in the area,” he stated.

“The burglars’ ability to strike so close to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ home raises serious concerns about potential targeting.”

Terry then suggested a number of additional security measures such as “AI-powered systems that detect unusual activity could add an extra layer of protection to prevent breaches, higher and more advanced barriers, particularly around key entry points, swapping general estate security with highly trained private personnel and strengthening access points such as gates.”

Terry comes to the conclusion that “the ability of the thieves to execute their plan without immediate detection underlines the need for constant evaluation and improvement of security measures on estates of this scale.” The police did not initially respond to the incident until a gate was destroyed.

Thames Valley Police released the following statement: “On Sunday, October 13, at approximately 11:45 p.m., we received a report of a burglary at a property on Crown Estate land close to the A308 in Windsor.”

“Offenders stole a red quad bike and a black Isuzu pickup after breaking into a farm building. After that, they headed for the Old Windsor/Datchet region.”

“No arrests have been made at this stage and an investigation is ongoing.”

Queen Camilla was away in India at the time of the incident, and King Charles was in Scotland.

There have been security lapses at Windsor Castle before, including this startling incident. A crossbow-wielding intruder who was apprehended scaling a fence on Christmas Day 2021 claimed he had the intention of hurting the late Queen Elizabeth II. Later, Jaswant Singh Chail received a nine-year prison term for treason.

In an effort to keep their children as far away from the spotlight as possible, the Wales family chose to leave Kensington Palace in 2022 and live in the country, far from the glittering metropolis of London.
