During their recent tour of Colombia, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle turned heads with a steamy display on the dancefloor. The couple, who have often been the subject of public scrutiny, let loose during a salsa session on Monday, August 19, drawing both praise and criticism for their uninhibited performance.
Renowned body language expert Judi James, speaking to The Sun, observed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared a moment of “raunchy” connection as they danced. “Despite Harry’s rather rigid hip grinds out there on the floor, he clearly receives a very strong signal of passionate approval and reward from Meghan here as she ends their dance together with an extremely non-regal kiss on the lips,” James noted.
The dance, characterized by “sensual hip-rolls, body stretching, and twirls,” saw Meghan taking the lead with confident abandon. “Meghan is the one throwing herself into the dance with the stronger signals of confident abandon, shifting her hips, raising her arms into the air, and tossing her long hair around as she dances with local guests as well as her husband,” James added.
While some praised the couple’s chemistry and affection, others were quick to criticize. One commenter on X, formerly known as Twitter, remarked, “Well, it goes to show she was definitely not born royal.” Another harshly criticized the display, writing, “Of course she isn’t, look at how undignified she [looks]. This shows that Harry is nothing but her robot and puppet — a willing slave to her social climbing, and what’s more pathetic is he was already at the top and is devoting his life to a parasite.”
However, not everyone shared this view. A third commenter defended the couple, saying, “What a vile and harsh thing to say! Shows just how much of a social loser you probably are. This is clearly a couple DEEPLY in love with one another, [they] don’t need to look stern and like robots in public since they are free citizens!”
James continued to analyze the couple’s body language, noting that Meghan seemed to control the entire dance. “After some brave but slightly awkward twirls with her husband, Meghan steps closer to hug-dance with him while patting him on the back in a tie-sign signal that seems to be a gesture of ‘well done, but let’s stop.’”
As royals in name only, Harry and Meghan are not bound by the strict protocols that once governed their public appearances. This freedom allowed Meghan to share a more intimate moment with her husband, which James described as a “tender face-clamp perfect for steering.” Meghan concluded the dance by taking Harry’s face in her hands for a moment of intense eye contact before leaning in for a quick, romantic kiss.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex wrapped up their four-day tour of Colombia on Monday, August 19. Despite the public displays of affection, Prince Harry is reportedly “struggling” to find ways to help Meghan Markle’s brand, which some have deemed “dead on arrival.”
As the couple continues to navigate their life away from the royal family, their every move remains under the spotlight, with opinions on their actions as divided as ever.
