Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have reportedly purchased a luxury property in Portugal – and there is a reason why the European nation might have been the perfect choice.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made no secret of their security concerns given their high-profile nature – and Portugal has one of the lowest crime rates in Europe, meaning it is a safer spot for them to reside.
Located an hour’s drive south of Lisbon, it also sits close to where Prince Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank stay throughout the summer.
This point has not gone unnoticed, with British broadcaster Helena Chard noting to Fox News that “Portugal is considered one of the safest places in Europe” which may “resonate with Prince Harry” and put some of his fears to rest.
Hary and Meghan spent a few days in Portugal last year
He also opined that it could be “an investment” for the future to open up an additional “income stream for when they’re older.”
While the Sussex camp has not commented on speculation about their reported new property, it is thought to be located at the exclusive CostaTerra Gold and Ocean Club
It is designed by Denton House – an upmarket architecture and interior design company – who claim to deliver the “world’s most glamorous residences and resort destinations.”
