Gun control activist David Hogg, who now serves as the new vice chairman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), recently criticized Elon Musk amid the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) ruthless reigning in of the federal government. Hogg called for Musk to be ousted and suggested former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg should replace him.

Taking to X Friday evening, Hogg posted, “Fire Elon Musk and Bring him back now.”  Under the caption, Hogg attached a photo of Buttigieg.  The  24-year-old, who rose to prominence after his activism following the deadly Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, was recently elected by the DNC to serve as vice chair.  The Democratic organization described Hogg as “one of the most compelling voices” of his generation.

Elon Musk has also received backlash from various other Democratic figures. The American Tribune reported on a group of congressional Democrats who gathered outside the Treasury Department in Washington, D.C., to protest Musk’s involvement in the federal government. Critics have described the rhetoric against Musk as “unhinged” and violent.

Outright claiming Musk was a Nazi, Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) argued, “Elon Musk is a Nazi nepo baby, a godless lawless billionaire, who no one elected.” She added, “Elon, this is the American people. This is not your trashy Cybertruck that you can just dismantle, pick apart, and sell the pieces of.” Suggesting protests against Musk and Trump will spill onto the “streets,” she asserted, “We will see you in the court, in Congress, in the streets.”

Sen. Elizabeth Warren slammed Musk for “seizing” power from Americans. “Elon Musk is seizing the power that belongs to the American people,” she said, adding, “We are here to fight back.” Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) made volatile statements to the crowd, stating, “We are gonna be in your face, we are gonna be on your a–es, and we are going to make sure you understand what democracy looks like, and this ain’t it.”

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer addressed the supposed “illegal seizure” of USAID on the Senate floor recently.  “Before our very eyes, an unelected shadow government is conducting a hostile takeover of the federal government,” he said.  Schumer further sounded off on DOGE, complaining about the lack of transparency.

He continued, “This weekend, Doge staffers also executed what can only be described as an illegal seizure of the US Agency for International Development, or USAID. We don’t know who these Doge staffers are. We don’t know if they have security clearances. We don’t know of legal authority they have to access USAID facilities, if any.”

Elon Musk asserted that USAID is an organization beyond repair and must be scrapped entirely. “USAID was a viper’s nest of radical-left marxists who hate America,” Musk claimed. “USAID is a criminal organization. Time for it to die,” the Tesla founder said in other comments. Responding to Schumer, he stated, “Hysterical reactions like this is how you know that @DOGE is doing work that really matters.”
