The Prince of Wales is a well-known football fan who enjoys seeing his favorite team, Aston Villa, live whenever possible.

Before their match against Everton, Prince William shocked fans at a Wetherspoons in Birmingham’s New Street station on Wednesday night. Conversation quickly shifted to tactics.

The father of three didn’t seem to be as eager for his younger children, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, to follow in his footsteps as Villa fans, although Prince George, his 11-year-old son, has already done so.

Steve Jones, a 56-year-old football fan who went out for a drink with William, disclosed: “It was 95 per cent chat about Villa as that’s our shared interest but a bit about his family.”

“Young George is a Villa fan but he didn’t want all three [children] to be Villa fans. He was massively interested and seemed like a really genuine guy and all he wanted to do was talk about Villa.”

Although the youngster has not yet gone to a game with his father, Louis was recently spotted wearing a Villa shirt while out and about with his mother, the Princess of Wales.

The football top, which bore the logo of former sponsor Cazoo, looked to have been a hand-me-down from his brother George.

In 2019, William took his two oldest children, George and Charlotte, to see their first Aston Villa game when the West Midlands team traveled to play Norwich City.

George has since joined his parents at many Villa and England games, suggesting that the young Prince’s love for the beautiful game took off.

In 2015, William, who has been the Football Association’s president since 2006, told the BBC that he became “big time” into football in school.

He went on to explain why he backs the West Midlands Club: “I was looking around for clubs. All my friends at school were either Man United fans or Chelsea fans and I didn’t want to follow the run of the mill teams.”

“I wanted to have a team that was more mid-table that could give me more emotional rollercoaster moments.”

When the season began in October, William admitted that he had “lost his voice” after watching Villa defeat German team Bayern Munich 1-0 in the team’s first Champions League home game in forty-one years.
