On Christmas Day, fans were seen giving Prince Louis and his royal siblings many thoughtful presents, but one young royal admirer had a particularly special gift for the six-year-old prince.

Six-year-old Rupert Bradley gave Louis a spoon and egg cup made of hand-finished silver that bore the final Coronation Commemorative Mark of his grandfather, King Charles III. York resident Rupert got the present in his own stocking

The child loved the present so much that he pleaded with his mother, Kay Bradley, a self-employed jeweler in York, to see if he could arrange one for Prince Louis.

“Rupert has always loved Prince Louis,” Kay clarified. “They were born within a few days of each other, so that’s why he feels a connection.”

Rupert, who suffers from bilateral talipes, a condition affecting the lower limbs, described his love for Louis. The schoolboy remarked, “He always looks a bit cheeky and fun,”

“Louis is likely to be our next Duke of York, so it’s important that he has a special connection to our magical city.”

Even though Rupert had a very difficult beginning in life, Kay continued, he never stops thinking about other people. “Our boy is incredibly brave and stoic, despite the fact that he has been in and out of the hospital for surgeries. We are incredibly proud of him.”

When the Coronation Commemorative Mark was introduced in March 2023, Kay, a devoted royal fan, was also the first person to enter. A special piece of silverware made for Prince Louis has now been marked with the final commemorative mark, which Bradley’s Jewellers York is celebrating.

Deputy Chief Executive Roxanne Guest of the Birmingham Assay Office, which added the historic mark, said: “The King Charles III Coronation Commemorative Mark, which depicts His Majesty’s head against an oval background, was unveiled in February 2023. It was available upon request for retail jewellers, suppliers, and designer-makers from 1 March 2023 until 31 December 2024.”

“It was applied to gold, silver, platinum or palladium items by all four UK Assay Offices. We are honoured to see the final mark being applied to this beautiful egg-cup and spoon, which will be presented to the King’s grandson.”
