The King is planning to make one significant change this year when he hosts his family for the yearly pre-Christmas lunch.
After hosting the event at Windsor Castle for the past two years, Charles, 76, will host at Buckingham Palace this year.
The guests are probably going to include the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, Mike and Zara Tindall, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, and their families.
If Prince William and Catherine haven’t already retreated to their Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, for the school holidays, the Prince and Princess of Wales and their three kids might also attend.
Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, the Duke of Kent, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester are among the cousins of the late Queen Elizabeth II who frequently appear.
Mike Tindall disclosed some startling information about the event back in 2019.
Speaking on a podcast, he said: “I didn’t drink actually, this is the other one, the family lunch there must be about 70 of us there – there are seven tables and the kiddies have their own little one in a different room. I was on [then] Prince Charles’ table. It was lovely, really good.”
According to the Sunday Times, the Duke of York, the King’s brother, has been urged to enter and leave the celebration discreetly in light of his most recent scandal.
Prince Andrew’s relationship to a suspected Chinese spy who has been banned from Britain due to national security concerns was made public by a court last week.
At the Duke’s invitation, the man entered Windsor Castle and St. James’s Palace and made two trips to Buckingham Palace.
When the businessman was first suspected of being a Chinese spy, Andrew said on Friday that he “ceased all contact” with him.
According to a statement from his office, Andrew met the person through “official channels” and “nothing of a sensitive nature ever discussed.”
Extended members of the monarch’s family who are unable to attend the Christmas gathering at Sandringham are invited to lunch at Buckingham Palace.
The royal family will once more join Charles and Camilla in Norfolk during the holiday season. The Queen’s children, Laura Lopes and Tom Parker Bowles, as well as their families, have been invited to join the fold for the first time.
