Meghan Markle is reportedly preparing to release a tell-all memoir that will delve deeper into the mental health challenges she faced during her time as a senior member of the British royal family. The Duchess of Sussex, 43, had previously opened up about experiencing suicidal thoughts while living in the UK as a working royal, but according to sources, she is now ready to share even more about her ordeal.
In a recent interview with CBS, Meghan briefly touched on her mental health struggles, hinting at a more detailed account in the future. Sources close to the Duchess have suggested that the time may soon be right for her to fully reveal her side of the story.
“The talk among their friends is that it’s time to take the gloves off and do away with the diplomacy,” a source told Closer magazine. “There’s so much demand for Meghan to speak out, whether that’s in the form of another sit-down interview or even her own memoir. She has the potential to make an absolute fortune and clear up a lot of questions.”
The insider also noted that the royal family’s recent decision to exclude the Sussexes from the annual summer retreat at Balmoral has further fueled Meghan’s desire to release a memoir. While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were reportedly “not shocked” by the snub, it has intensified their need to find a way to fight back, with a memoir being one of the options under consideration.
“They’re now being forced to figure out a strategy to fight back, and one option on the table is to go all-out with a big tell-all from Meghan where she completely lays out her side of the story,” the source added.
Rumors of Meghan’s tell-all book have been circulating ever since Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, was released in January 2023. The book, which offered an unfiltered look at Harry’s experiences within the royal family, became the fastest-selling nonfiction book of all time. The Sussexes signed a lucrative four-book deal with Penguin Random House in 2021, leaving many to wonder if Meghan’s memoir could be the next installment.
If the rumors are true, this wouldn’t be Meghan’s first foray into writing. In 2021, she became a published author with the release of her children’s book, The Bench. Since then, she has launched a now-defunct podcast titled Archetypes and has been working on a lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, which is yet to be launched.
As anticipation builds around the potential memoir, many are speculating about the impact it could have on both the royal family and the public’s perception of Meghan Markle. With the gloves reportedly coming off, the world may soon hear a much more candid account of her time as a royal, and the challenges she faced behind palace walls.
