Considering how important Kate Middleton’s appearance is when she’s out on royal business, it makes sense that she uses a few style hacks to stay looking her best, but these are things we never would have thought of!
Apparently, Kate uses two tricks to wear heels for long periods of time, and interestingly enough, these are things that anyone, even those of us who don’t happen to be royal, can try.
From time to time, we’ll see her wearing tennis shoes or a pair of flat boots when the situation calls for it, but most of the time, she’s dressing up with heels (and some of them are pretty tall).
Not that we blame her, though — she has one seriously impressive shoe collection, so why not show off her heels?
Now we know her secret to wearing them comfortably.
There are specific products Kate uses to keep her heels on and comfortable for the long periods of time that she’s required to stand and walk in them, according to what etiquette expert Myka Meier told Insider.
One of those items is nonslip pantyhose from the UK department store John Lewis. The tights have gel strips on each foot that grip shoes, helping to keep them in place so she doesn’t trip.
She also wears leather insoles.
Meier said Kate uses leather insoles from Alice Bow that mold to her feet to help cushion them, no matter what kind of shoes she might be wearing. Combining the insoles with the tights likely makes Kate a lot more comfortable when she has to spend all day on her feet.
Kate’s been known to use a lot of different style hacks.
Over the years, we’ve managed to learn a few of them. For example, Kate sometimes wears a hairnet that’s nearly invisible over her more formal styles to keep every hair in place. She’s also known for having weights sewn into her dresses to keep a Marilyn Monroe windy moment from happening.
Nobody can say this lady isn’t prepared for anything!
We still wouldn’t blame Kate if she wanted to take a break from heels sometimes.
After all, nothing is as comfortable as a nice pair of tennis shoes, regardless of the hacks she can use to make the experience of wearing heels less painful.
Still, we’re going to remember her tips next time we have an event coming up. She might be onto something!
